a truth

"After a while, you learn the subtle differences between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning, and company doesn't mean security. And you begin to understand that kisses aren't contracts, and presents aren't promises. And you being to accept your defeats with your head held high and your eyes wide open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child. You learn to build your roads on today, because tomorrows ground is too uncertain and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong. And that you really do have worth and that you keep learning. With every goodbye, you learn."

How true. They say your 20's are great, but your 30's, even better. They say once in your 30's, you're more sure of yourself and have more of an idea of where you want to go, or at least where you want to be.

It does get easier, every time, but only because I choose the easier road.

Besides, who the fuck are "they" anyway? :)
